Hi everyone! My name is Lindsey, and I’m an intern at North Park this summer! Although I am helping out wherever I am needed, my main focus is prayer ministry. I have been incredibly blessed to see how God is at work in each age group this summer. Every time I hang out at NP, I am inspired to pray more and more for each ministry. Throughout the past few weeks, I have spent time asking NP leaders how I can pray for the church. With that said, prayer ministry is not just about me – it is about YOU! In Ephesians 6, the Apostle Paul tells us to put on the full armor God. We need the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, our feet fitted with readiness, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit. (Eph. 6:14-17) Along with putting on this armor, Paul tells us to pray. Ephesians 6:18 says, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
My desire is to see the amazing people at NP pray for what happens in the church as well as outside of the church. Let’s pray for NP to further the advancement of God’s Kingdom. We can pray for our NP kiddos to share the Gospel with their friends. Each of us can lift up our pastors as they teach us to love the Lord and His people.
Throughout the summer, I am going to update this blog with ways that we can pray for NP! In addition to posting prayer topics, I will also let you know when we are going to have prayer gatherings at NP. During VBS (June 25-29) we are going to meet in the Education Building at 6 pm each night for a time of prayer. I hope you will join us as we pray for the kids and leaders at VBS! Until then, here is a list of ways you can pray for NP!
P – Pastors! Both Mark and David have acted as true, humble servants during this season at North Park. Let’s pray for wisdom, strength, and perseverance as they continue to work through this transitional season at North Park. Pray for David as he continues to pastor this church while also leading youth ministry; pray for Mark as he continues to lead worship on Sunday mornings as well as children and senior adult ministry.
E – Events! We have several events that are fixing to take place at North Park. We need to pray for VBS (June 25-29), youth camp (July 24-29), and pre-teen camp. Pray that the Lord would be at work preparing the hearts of these students, and lift up the leaders at each of these events. Let’s also pray for the Neighborhood Block Party that will take place at Knollwood on June 24. Pray for boldness and open hearts as North Park seeks to make disciples!
T – Team! Throughout this time of transition, North Park has been working towards the formation of a leadership team. Let’s lift up all of these leaders (including Mark and David), asking the Lord to give them wisdom and use their gifts to glorify God at North Park. Pray for God’s will to be done – that North Park would never seek its own agenda but God’s agenda to make disciples and further His Kingdom!
I – Increase! I’ve talked to several of the Sunday school (and nursery) leaders, and most of them have said that they need an increase in volunteers! Let’s pray for willing hearts to serve at North Park, whether it’s helping in Sunday school or joining the Ministry of Encouragement!
T – Time! Let’s the pray that the time spent at North Park would help each person grow. From children to senior adults, we must never remain complacent in our faith! Pray that the time spent at NP studying the Word would encourage more time at home studying the Word!
I – Influence! Every leader at NP – whether they are worshipping alongside Mark or teaching kids – has tremendous influence. Let’s pray that God would use our teachers and leaders to be positive influences to those around them. Let’s pray that God uses authentic worship, powerful preaching, teaching times, and fun fellowship to show Christ at NP!
O – Open hearts to give! As we pray for the finances at NP, pray that hearts would be open to give their tithe and offerings with willing and joyful hearts!
N – North Park brothers and sisters! Each person that steps into the NP sanctuary has their own set of hardships that they are carrying. Let’s pray boldly for God’s provision, presence, and power to be at work in each person’s life.
“Do not worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” –Philippians 4:6
